May 24, 2019
With nearly four centuries of history, Boston is not only one of U.S.’s oldest cities but also a city known for everything from fabulous cultural landmarks like the Paul Revere House and Boston Common to exceptional cuisine (hey, baked beans, what’s up!) and Red Sox.
Although blowing through your budget is super easy in Boston, there are always ways to find interesting things to do and see for far less money or none at all. Say you target the lively Faneuil Hall Marketplace and the lovely Boston Public Garden today – you wouldn’t spend a penny, and you’d still have an amazing time!

For all of you coming to Boston for the first time, you simply must try Boston’s famous baked beans, check out The Boston Marathon (or run it if you are in town on the third Monday of April!), and see Fenway Park. Other than these, if you dig just a little deeper below the surface, you’ll be amazed by an enormous wealth of sights, attractions, cultural rudiments and historically important elements that make Boston as glorious as it is.
Since Boston consistently ranks as one of America’s “best of” cities, here’s a list of a few reasons as to why that is:
A City of Firsts
Aside from being one of the oldest U.S. cities, Boston is also the city of first important architectural solutions:
- • 1634 – Boston Common, the first public park;
- • 1635 – Boston Latin, the first public school;
- • 1897 – the Tremont Street Subway, the first subway system in the nation;
- • The first telephone, inoculation, and the first industrial arts school
Speaking of some newer firsts, there’s Facebook (only the first and most relevant social media network out there!), and the Big Dig, which set a model for smart urban planning around the globe. Let’s not forget about research institutions like Harvard, MIT, and Tufts as well as thousands of digital startups that are running successful businesses from this very city.

All Things Health, Wellness and Happiness
Regardless of being one of the busiest cities in the U.S., Boston is still beaming with charm and soul, allowing for serendipitous connections, chill downtime, and relaxed enjoyment with friends and family.
With its network of bike paths, extensive public transit, and abundant park space Boston will not only help keep you in tip-top shape (with so many running, biking, and walking tracks who wouldn’t look smashing!) but it’ll also be a major factor in improving your social life. Oh, and here’s another interesting fact – the American Fitness Index named Boston one in its top ten fittest U.S. cities, quoting “more public parks, playgrounds, and farmers markets per capita than [their] target goal for a healthy city.” Add super convenient access to numerous teaching hospitals in the country, and you’ll realize Boston is one happy, healthy, and wise city to call home.

If you are more on an I’d-rather-take-public-transportation side, then using Boston’s T (a popular name for the subway), water taxis, ferries, commuter rails, and buses are your go-to. Is Boston safe for tourists? It is, but you should be careful just as you’d be with any other big city.
Quality of Life
Boston is known as the city with the high quality of life, at least based on Deutsche Bank’s estimate, ranking Boston the eighth best city in the world in terms of quality of life. In case you enjoy good swimming beaches, ideal climate, and good nightlife, America’s Finest City may be the right choice for your vacation days (or even relocation if you happen to fall in love with “the birthplace of California”)! The second largest city in the state is known to be an economic center of the region, but also as a center of research in biotechnology.
When you do decide to visit, don’t miss the wonders of surfing, sailing, scuba diving and other activities San Diego Shores (most notably La Jolla and Mission Bay) offer. That being said, train enthusiasts will probably cherish the opportunity to learn more about the railroading history of San Diego much more than some average Joe. Still, exploring many miniature trains counts as time well spent in our book!

Well, San Diego’s Museum of man happens to have both of these things on display, as well as exhibits on monsters, torture, human evolution, and race. They also offer guided tours of the California Tower! Be sure to purchase your ticket for this “The Story of Man through the Ages.”

February 28, 2018
The never-ending, semi-amicable battle between New York and Los Angeles in terms of which city tops the other seems to be the topic we’ll never get tired of. And while NYC is pretty great, and everyone loves it for a number of reasons, as residents of LA we can’t help but lean towards our city and give it absolute credits for its wonderfulness, charm, warmth and everything else that comes with it.
If you are considering moving to the US or are only eager to visit LA/NYC, but you can’t seem to choose between the two wonderful cities, here’s why you should choose the West Coast and LA, and not NYC.
HINT: The reasons below are just the tip of an ice-berg:
You Don’t Need an Escape Plan to Get Out of the City
One of the most hectic cities in the world, New York will treat you to a few niceities as long as you stay in the city. In case you want to leave the city for the weekend you’ll pretty much need an escape plan, properly thought out and organized a few weeks in advance. You worry about the weather, about finding a car or buying a ticket, you worry about the horrific traffic jams and ways to get out of them. It’s overwhelming! Getting out of the city when you live in LA is all about momentary decisions and adventure! Want to enjoy a beach day in San Diego? Need to book a ride on demand (that won’t be late!) and go wine tasting in Santa Barbara? LA’s the place where you can make that happen in a jiffy.
People Smile in LA
Unlike NY city’s gloomy, (seemingly) pissed off look, bad language and an even worse attitude (for the most part), good manners are a big part of LA culture. People smile at you (not in a creepy way!) and they’ll go out of their way to make you feel comfortable, relaxed and well-serviced. Customer service is exceptional in the majority of LA restaurants, food joints, boutiques, shops, the market, etc. and you’ll never feel like you are a burden. LA mentality is wonderfully positive, and it will help lift up your spirits even when you are feeling down!
LA Tourist Traps? More Like LA Awesome Maps
If you’ve ever talked to a NewYorker or heard someone from New York talk about their monumental sites (like the Statue of Liberty, Alexander Hamilton Statue, Joan of Arc Memorial, etc.), you’ve probably heard most of them talk about those same majorly important sites with a very dismissive attitude? Apparently, visiting them is not worthy of their interest and time but it works for the tourists, right? LA is the opposite. LA tour “traps” are places locals love to visit: say you hired the LA-based limo company Swiftcars for your sightseeing tour and wanted to see all-important-things-LA… the driver would be happy to show you around the Griffith Observatory, Malibu, the Hollywood Bowl, the famous Hollywood sign, fantastic outdoor spaces and beaches, and a number of other places locals enjoy with great pleasure.
Hello, Hollywood!
Even if fantastic night and day life entertainment isn’t your cup of tea, it’s true what they say: “Los Angeles is the entertainment capital of the world”? Believe it or not, California entertainment industry generates close to $50 billion annually in direct sales and makes for one of the most attractive parts of the world. LA is significantly cheaper than its top competitors New York and London, and it offers incredibly rich lifestyle. Even the richest celebrities who could live anywhere in the world (and we mean ANYWHERE) choose to come/stay here which only proves The City of Angels is an absolute delight to live in.
Who’s Hungry?
A cosmopolitan city as it is, Los Angeles prides on being one of the most diverse cities when it comes to food. Mix the presence of multiple cultures in the city and its surrounding areas and its closeness to the Pacific Ocean, and you’ll get an explosion of (food) cultural influences and the freshest seafood around. Both upscale and budget dining is available in LA, and will surely treat you to phenomenal cuisine. And the way to reach them? Unless you have your own car, the best option is to book an on-demand ride, a first class car service like SwiftCars with experienced and educated drivers that not only know their way around the city but can recommend some pretty phenomenal places to eat.
Convinced yet? There’s no doubt you’ll love your LA experience, especially if you are into experiencing a variety of cultures, gorgeous sights and phenomenal people!
The never-ending, semi-amicable battle between New York and Los Angeles in terms of which city tops the other seems to be the topic we’ll never get tired of. February 12, 2018
If you are single, Valentine’s Day is one of the most depressing, boring and utterly uninspiring days in a year – that is, if you care about it enough to get stressed over it. However, if you are in love, Valentine’s is yet another opportunity for you to show your loved one how much you care for them and how appreciative you are for having them in your life. Even though we believe love is to be expressed continually, every day, being extra romantic on this sweet holiday is absolutely adorable.
So, for all of you who want to make this day extra special for your loved one, here are a few ideas how to do just that (if you are living in Chicago):
Stay at Home and Do Nothing
Not a suggestion you really expected, is it? Like, if you wanted this type of advice, you wouldn’t even bother browsing for ideas, right? But, hear us out. The idea behind staying at home isn’t to just lazy it out and stay uneventful about your romantic day; it’s more about taking a day off and using this Valentine’s to reconnect, and actually spend time with each other without thinking about anything else.
Start the Valentine’s celebration by giving each other a love letter, showing your love in written. A cute idea would be to buy matching pajamas (one for you, one for your bae), order your favorite food or prepare your partner’s favorite dish (heck, you can even prepare it together and make it a thing!), put your phones on silent and in the other room and enjoy the time together: binge-watching your favorite series/films, talking, having sex, hug, going out for a brief walk then back home to cozy up with each other… as long as this day is about you two, and just you – you’ll have a great time together. This is a perfect option for couples who work a lot and don’t get to spend enough time together.
Do Drinks and a Movie at the Music Box
All the film lovers who want to spend their Valentine’s enjoying old classics, indies, documentaries and other thrills, the Music Box is the place to be. Known as the place with the most diverse selection of films in the Windy City, there’s no doubt this spectacular outing will quench your cinematic thirst. Let the date flow deep into the night by swinging by the Music Box’s lounge for a drink afterwards to exchange opinions on the movie(s) you’ve seen. You don’t have to say your goodbyes early, especially with such a great lounge offer.
Valentine’s Day – Cozy Up at a Fireplace Bar
Although this outing is, technically, going to a bar and drinking, it really is more than that. As Chicago winters last longer than in any other area around, there are a number of bars with fireplaces around, romantic enough to agree with your Valentine’s plans. If you think going to a bar is too simple, count on a luxury car service Chicago to add a glamorous spark to your date and rent a limo you know your date will adore. Arrange for a limo pickup once you decide to change places or go home and, use the time at the bar to carelessly nestle in with your bae looking at the blazing fire, enjoying any of the super delicious cocktails served at Chicago’s finest bars.
Thalia Hall
Music geeks will absolutely adore going to Thalia Hall as there is no more romantic spot than this concert venue. Primarily a bohemian opera opened in 1892, the Hall was later refurbished and it now hosts touring bands of various genres almost every night of the week. Get super romantic by having drinks at Punch House, the trending bar in the basement and get ready to be blown away with the 19th century venue’s charm. If you and your date like to dance, this will be the perfect opportunity to show off your dance moves.
Enjoy your Valentine’s Day and choose the option that fits your sensibility best!
If you are single, Valentine’s Day is one of the most depressing, boring and utterly uninspiring days in a year – that is, if you care about it enough to get stressed over it. However, if you are in love, Valentine’s is yet another opportunity for you to show your loved one how much you [&hellCelebrate the First Months of 2018 Doing the Following 4 Things in LA
January 23, 2018
If you are from L.A., you are either thanking all the Gods of Los Angeles climate for having the best, snowless climate in the world or lamenting over the same exact fact. Now that the holidays are over, and all the holiday food cost us double the gym membership, it’s time to take a look into the events of 2018 and see what we could all do to enjoy the first few phenomenal months of 2018 in joy and splendor!
So, for all of you who are looking for something to do today, this weekend or any of the days in the upcoming months of 2018, consider the four options below first:
Ice-skate for joy
Now that the semi-chilly temperatures are gone and the gray skies have gone blueish again, your options for enjoyment in Los Angeles are virtually countless. Go ice-skating at the Lakes at Thousand Oaks Ice Rink as their water features get transformed into an outdoor ice skating rink each season. Or, if you are looking to experience something more pompous, go to Queen Mary! All from December 13, 2017, until Sunday, January 7, 2018, the iconic ship will be transformed into a winter wonderland for your skating and viewing pleasure. Plus, this year will feature an international theme with six different destinations which is kind of great, don’t you think? Rent a black car service L.A. to take you to your ice-skating destinations if you can’t be bothered to drive – you know that the City of Angels has got a number of the best ground transportation services for rent in the entire U.S.!
Find peace at the beach
Not an activity in itself per se but definitely something worth considering. L.A. is one of the cities in the world with the most spectacular beaches and given you are in the city, why not use the chance to enjoy the beaches as much as possible.
Whether you are looking for a more romantic time or some time to chill alone, the best thing to do is explore the city’s beaches, enjoy the white sand and the gorgeousness of the ocean. Since the official sunbathing season hasn’t yet started, everything’s deserted and it looks phenomenal. So, start the year off with some mental clarity, beach wonders and ocean waves. Here’s a suggestion: go for yoga lessons at the beach or organize chill nights with friends. It’ll be great!
Forget about Valentine’s
Although February is known to be the month of love and gifts (yes, yes, St. Valentine’s celebration always gets everyone all riled up), you don’t have to be one of the crazies, not in L.A. at least. Leave the chocolate and roses drama for some other month and use the extra day off during Presidents’ Day to go sightseeing around Los Angeles or skip town with a weekend getaway. Go see Joshua Tree (just three hours drive from L.A.), Ojai, the gorgeous pastoral town you’ll fall in love with, the wealthy Santa Barbara or Santa Catalina for the best time! No matter your love life status—you should enjoy February in all its L.A. glory! And, if you don’t want to drive to your destination – rent a limo. A simple search reduced to commands like “limo near me” or “black car near me” will get you some of the best limo ground transportation services in L.A. imaginable.
Shed the 2018 Holiday Weight
Sure, it’s not exactly an event or outing but hiking is one of the most prominent things citizens of L.A. are known for (at least those who keep their figure lean). So, if you’ve let yourself go a bit during the holidays, it’s time to make the first few months of 2018 your most intense hiking months. Fill your lungs with the less-smoggy air and sweet L.A. panorama by going on a hike to the Bronson Canyon with views of three major Hollywood landmarks (the Hollywood sign, Griffith Observatory, and Bronson Cave) or the Wisdom Tree and Cahuenga Peak, rumored to be the only survivor of a wildfire in 2007. Stretch every muscle at a yoga class at Wilacre Park and bring your puppy for a walk, too! Activities like these aren’t only good for the body, but for the soul, as well. Plus, you get to meet other hikers and you never know what an amazing friendship or love thing you may be ending your hike with, right?

November 15, 2017
For everyone who loves spending time with their families on Thanksgiving, geography doesn’t play a role. Whether you are in NY, Chicago or Europe, the fact you’ve got your favorite people with you will be reason enough to pay Thanks this Thanksgiving.
On regular days, we’re all too busy to see our families on regular basis so these few dates in a year when we’re out of the office and elbows-deep in the holiday punch make for the perfect occasion to tell those we love the most just how loved and cherished they are. Since we’re based in the Windy City we thought it’d be fun to lay out a few cool suggestions for you to do with the fam this turkey-obsessed holiday:
Go to Christkindlmarket at Daley Plaza
Not that this one didn’t cross your mind already, but we simply had to point it out! We love Christkindlmarket this time of year when everything blings in shiny lights and wonderful energy! For those of you who are only visiting Chicago and aren’t that familiar with the local history, Christkindlmarket is the largest open-air market in the Windy City; it’s inspired by 1545-founded market Nuremberg, Germany. Coming here, you’ll find iconic German items like cuckoo clocks, nutcrackers, and wooden handicrafts, as well as hand-blown ornaments and beer steins. Not very Thanksgiving-y, though but the delicious assortment of authentic German food at Christkindlmarket will blow you away! You’ll get to taste everything from waffles, sausages, potato pancakes, and sauerkraut to the delicious traditional hot spiced wine Glühwein and beer. You’ll love it!
Volunteer in the spirit of giving
We love Chicago because it offers plenty of opportunities to give back to those less fortunate, and one of those opportunities is for Thanksgiving. This year, St. Ignatius Church in Rogers Park has already set its Ignatian Services Food Pantry in action, i.e. works on organizing creating and delivering of Thanksgiving baskets to families on the Saturday before Thanksgiving. There are also drivers needed, so – if you are willing to participate, go for it! This would be an amazing way to help out, feel like you’ve made a difference and teach the young in your family true values. Nothing beats showing them by example why they should be grateful for everything they’ve got! If you want to help and your budget allows it, maybe even rent a Swift Cars Hourly Car Service and a driver as an additional help for delivering all the food and Thanksgiving treats to the families!
Check out the ZooLights
This annual winter tradition is possibly one of our favorite things to do in Chicago around this time of year! Head to the Lincoln Park Zoo with the fam to gasp at the lights and the adorable animals. Try to get there among the first 1,000 because those who do get special glasses to view the lights with! Yaaay!
Enjoy the Thanksgiving Parade
Try replacing the well-known scenario of lazying it out in front of the TV and watching the Parade by actually enjoying it live! Nothing beats the live version of giant inflatable cartoon characters, so try to organize your day with the fam around it – at least for an hour or two of the entire day. This year, the Chicago Thanksgiving Parade will start at the State Street at 8 am and run through 11 am, and treat you to a number of marching bands, floats, and local celebs. Hey, it’s just a few hours of your morning – you’ll have plenty of time to stuff your face with all the deliciousness when you get back home, no worries!
So, what do you think you’ll be doing first for Thanksgiving? Let us know!
